How a rescue works
You call the hotline
A coordinator takes the patient's condition, the exact location and your insurance or payment details. Two minutes, four questions.
Clearance and launch prep
Insurance guarantee of payment or private payment is confirmed, flight clearance is obtained and the nearest available helicopter is tasked.
The helicopter flies
The crew reaches the pickup point, the patient boards with a companion where weight allows, and oxygen and a stretcher are on board if needed.
Hospital handover
An ambulance or hospital team meets the aircraft. You receive the medical report, flight report and invoice your insurer needs for the claim.
Where we fly
Coverage from Everest to the far west
Rescue and transfer flights across every trekking region and all 77 districts of Nepal. Mountain pickups fly mostly in morning weather windows.
Money questions, answered straight
Who pays for the helicopter?
Insured travelers
The desk contacts your insurer's 24 hour assistance line, obtains a guarantee of payment and launches on approval. Before you trek, confirm your policy explicitly covers helicopter evacuation up to your route's maximum altitude. Many standard policies stop at 4,000 or 6,000 meters.
Paying privately
No insurance, or a policy that will not respond in time? Rescues launch once payment is arranged. Most evacuations from popular trekking regions fall between USD 2,500 and 6,500 depending on pickup point, altitude and weather. Nepali citizens fly without insurance.
Quick answers
Asked on almost every call
How fast can a helicopter reach us?
Typically 1 to 3 hours from a confirmed launch, depending on your region, aircraft availability and weather. High mountain pickups fly mostly in morning windows, before wind builds in the afternoon. Call early: a case reported at 8 AM often flies the same morning, while one reported at 3 PM may wait for first light.
Do you rescue people without insurance?
Yes. The flight launches once payment is arranged by card, bank transfer or through family in Kathmandu. Nepali citizens do not need insurance at all.
Can a friend or guide fly with the patient?
Usually yes. Cabin space allows up to five people including the patient, subject to weight limits at altitude. The pilot has the final word.
Which hospital will the patient go to?
The desk coordinates handover to partner hospitals in Kathmandu, or to the hospital you or your insurer prefer. An ambulance meets the aircraft where the hospital has no helipad.
