Every service below starts the same way: a call to the 24/7 desk, four questions, and a coordinator who owns the case until the patient is in a hospital bed.
01 / Emergency medical evacuation
From trail to hospital bed
Injuries, sudden illness, severe altitude sickness or an accident anywhere a road cannot reach. The helicopter picks the patient up from the nearest safe landing zone, a lodge yard, a river bank, a marked helipad, and flies directly to Kathmandu or Pokhara.
- Pickup from villages, lodges, trails and base camps
- Stretcher, oxygen and first response kit on board
- Companion or guide flies along where weight allows
- Hospital or ambulance team waiting at handover
Typical response: 1 to 3 hours from confirmed launch, weather and daylight permitting.
02 / High altitude rescue
Where the air runs out
HAPE and HACE kill within hours, and descent is the treatment. High altitude pickups run in morning weather windows, when the air is calm and dense enough for a safe approach. Above roughly 6,000 meters, missions are assessed case by case with specialist crews and equipment.
- Routine pickups from trekking altitudes up to about 5,500 meters
- Extreme altitude missions assessed case by case
- Immediate descent to a lower altitude medical facility when minutes matter
- Coordination with guides for symptoms, location and landing options
If someone shows confusion, wet cough or breathlessness at rest, call immediately. Do not wait for morning to make the call: cases reported early fly first.
03 / Hospital to hospital transfer
Air ambulance between hospitals
When a district hospital has done what it can, the helicopter closes the distance to advanced care. Transfers fly with a medical escort, stretcher and oxygen, coordinated bed to bed between the sending and receiving hospitals.
- Transfers from any district hospital to Kathmandu or Pokhara
- Nurse or paramedic escort with in-flight oxygen
- Receiving hospital and ambulance arranged before takeoff
- A formal referral letter and flight clearance are arranged as part of dispatch
04 / Rescue for Nepali citizens
नेपाली बिरामीका लागि हेली एम्बुलेन्स
Helicopter ambulance is not only for foreign trekkers. Families across Nepal use it every week to move critically ill patients from remote districts to Kathmandu. Nepali patients do not need insurance: the desk works directly with the family and the receiving hospital on payment and paperwork.

05 / Search & support flights
When someone is overdue
A trekker misses a checkpoint, a group loses contact, a route is cut by weather. Search flights sweep the likely trail sections and landing zones, carrying a guide or family representative who knows the plan, coordinated with the trekking agency and local authorities.
- Aerial search along planned routes and shelters
- Guide, agency or police representative on board
- Immediate switch to evacuation once the person is found
- Supply drops to stranded but uninjured groups
06 / Medical charter & repatriation support
Medicine that has to move
Doctors flown to a remote camp, vaccines and supplies to a cut-off district, a medical team positioned for an expedition or event. And when a patient must continue abroad, the desk coordinates the handover to international air ambulance providers at Kathmandu airport.
